In fact, aircraft contrails may contribute to ‘global dimming,’ thought to be a significant offset to global warming.

Global dimming makes me want to rip the particulate trap off my diesel-powered car and to hell with the carcinogens!
BTW, once you’ve driven a modern turbo diesel you don’t go back to petrol cars. These cars are bonkers; all the torque of a V8 in a little hatch, but they do 50mpg in the old money.
